"FOUR STARS"

This 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" project focuses on Jane’s original fillings and patterns, which have a foundation in traditional canvaswork and historical Western and Asian silk and metal embroidery. The design, drawn and stitched as a square but hung as a diamond, was inspired by American patchwork patterns. It is executed on #18 eggshell canvas with ecru French silk, Delica hex-cut beads, and a wide range of Japanese gold threads. The techniques/patterns used include two compositite alternating scotch variations, pattern couching over cord, composite diagonal satin, novelty Japanese filling, dimpled scotch and lattice variation.
