SHINING NEEDLE SOCIETY CYBERCLASS
Class dates: 3/8/12 - 6/8/12

© 2008 -2012 Jane D. Zimmerman.  All rights reserved.

This 3-month cyber workshop, beginning March 8th, explores both historical techniques of silk and metal thread embroidery through the ages, in addition to traditional/composite canvas stitches. This 10" by 10" geometric design is on #18 canvas in two color families of silk (or cotton) plus metallics. The techniques include:gobelin pattern with trellis, pattern couching, Sprat's Head, Japanese filling variations, composite mosaic pattern, couched silk grounds, composite tied satin filing, and web stitch grounding

Jane discovered the design concept in the set decoration of her favorite opera, Otello, this production performed at La Scala in Milian in 2001 with Placido Domingo in his most celebrated role. The colorway to the right was the basic color scheme of this production. It makes a smashing piece of needlework.

OPTION #1:
For shipping to a US address only, Jane will be offering a complete kit as one option - this will include not only the instruction booklet with color image but all supplies required to complete the project in three colorways for the primary silk family plus "gold high lustre" metallics. The Needlepoint Inc. silk choices are palamino gold and "mouse brown"/dapple gray plus (1) Wine or (2) Iris Blue or (3) Paprika.

Note: Since Jane will be providing this kit option with color choices, your enrollment must be paid by 2/15/11 if it is for Option 1 - so that silks and metallics can be ordered. After the 15th there will be only a limited number of kits available from Jane, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Class Cost: $185 (Priority Mail to US address only.)
Note: Some of the stitch variations in this project require the use of more thread than required for any of my other geometric designs

OPTION #2:
You may order the chartpak only, which will include a supply list. To insure the thread weights are correct you are asked to use either Needlepoint Inc silk or cotton floss.

Class Cost: $74. (Priority Mail)
An international address can be used for this option: add an extra $8 for shipment to Canada and an extra $13 for shipment anywhere else in the world.

AUDIT:
If you have taken the class in the past you may audit this cyberclass.

Class cost: $37
